PGIMER Nursing Previous Year Questions: Download & Practice

PGIMER Nursing previous year questions (PYQs) are questions from past nursing exams held by PGIMER Chandigarh, mainly the B.Sc Nursing entrance and the Nursing Officer recruitment exam. Solving them shows you how PGIMER frames questions, which concepts keep coming back, and how fast you need to work.

Mock tests and practice questions are a different thing. Teachers or test platforms write them to imitate the exam, so they did not appear in any real PGIMER paper.

Before you download any "PYQ PDF", check three things:
  • which exam and year it claims to be from
  • whether it is an official paper or memory-based
  • whether the answer key has been verified

First, know which PGIMER nursing exam you are preparing for

This is where most students go wrong. PGIMER Chandigarh conducts more than one nursing exam, and each has a completely different paper.

  • B.Sc Nursing entrance: for students after Class 12. It tests Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the 10+2 level, along with English and General Knowledge.
  • Nursing Officer recruitment: for GNM or B.Sc Nursing qualified candidates. It tests nursing subjects such as fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing and pharmacology. The 2026 notification (Advertisement No. PGI/RC/055/2026/2276, dated 09.09.2026) is for 243 Nursing Officer (Group 'B') posts, with online applications open from 10 September to 3 October 2026 at pgimer.edu.in. Read our PGIMER Nursing Officer Recruitment 2026 update for details.
  • Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing entrances: these are separate exams again. Check the prospectus for each one.

A Biology PYQ won't help a Nursing Officer aspirant, and a pharmacology PYQ won't help a Class 12 student. Pick the right set before you start.

Know what you are downloading

Type What it is How far to trust it
Official paper Released by PGIMER itself Most reliable; availability is limited
Memory-based questions Recalled by candidates after the exam Useful for spotting topics; wording and options may be inaccurate
Practice / PYQ-style questions Written to match PGIMER's style Good for drilling; not real exam questions
Mock tests Full-length papers based on the expected pattern Good for timing and stamina

PGIMER Nursing Previous Year Questions: Why Should You Practice Them?

PYQs are the closest you can get to seeing how the examiner thinks. Used well, they help you in eight ways:

  • Understand question style. You see whether PGIMER asks direct facts, statement-based questions or clinical scenarios.
  • Identify frequently tested concepts. Some topics come back year after year in slightly different forms.
  • Improve speed. Recognising a familiar question type saves you seconds on every question.
  • Improve accuracy. Reviewing wrong answers shows you the traps you keep falling into.
  • Find weak subjects. Subject-wise scores tell you where you are losing marks.
  • Revise efficiently. A PYQ set works as a quick test of a whole chapter.
  • Manage time. Timed practice teaches you when to move on from a question.
  • Build confidence. The real paper feels familiar rather than frightening.

PYQs do not guarantee selection. They show you how the exam works, but your score still depends on how well you know the syllabus.

What Can You Learn From PGIMER Nursing PYQs?

When you finish a PYQ set, don't just note your score. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Difficulty: Were most questions straightforward, or did they need two steps of reasoning?
  • Subject distribution: Roughly how many questions came from each subject in that paper? Treat this as the pattern of one year, not as official weightage.
  • Recurring concepts: Which topics appeared in more than one year?
  • Conceptual vs factual: How many questions tested pure recall, and how many needed you to understand why?
  • Application-based questions: In the Nursing Officer paper especially, how many questions described a patient and asked for the nursing priority?
  • Time: Which section slowed you down?
  • Revision gaps: Which chapters do you need to reopen?

Write these observations down. After three or four papers, your own notes will tell you more than any "important topics" list online.

The tables below list areas to practise. They are not official weightage. Always confirm the syllabus in the current prospectus or recruitment notification.

Free PGIMER Nursing Practice Questions (PDF)

We could not verify any officially released PGIMER nursing question paper that is freely available. So instead of sharing an unverified "PYQ PDF", the OM Nursing Academy Academic Team has written an original practice set in the style of PGIMER nursing exams.

What's inside:
  • Section A: 25 questions for the B.Sc Nursing entrance, covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English and GK
  • Section B: 25 questions for the Nursing Officer exam, covering Fundamentals, Pharmacology, Medical-Surgical, OBG, Child Health, Community Health, Mental Health, Nutrition and Research
  • A complete answer key with a short explanation for every question

B.Sc Nursing entrance – Chemistry

How many moles are present in 36 g of water (H2O)?

(a) 1   (b) 2   (c) 3   (d) 0.5

Answer: (b) 2. The molar mass of water is 18 g/mol, so 36 ÷ 18 = 2 mol.

B.Sc Nursing entrance – Physics

Two 6-ohm resistors are connected in parallel. The equivalent resistance is:

(a) 3 ohm   (b) 6 ohm   (c) 12 ohm   (d) 36 ohm

Answer: (a) 3 ohm. Two equal resistors in parallel give half the resistance of one.

Nursing Officer – Pharmacology

1000 mL of IV fluid is to run over 8 hours with a drop factor of 15 drops/mL. The flow rate is about:

(a) 21   (b) 31   (c) 42   (d) 62 drops/min

Answer: (b) 31 drops/min. (1000 × 15) ÷ (8 × 60) = 31.25.

Nursing Officer – Medical-Surgical Nursing

An early sign of hypoxia in an adult patient is:

(a) Cyanosis   (b) Restlessness   (c) Bradycardia   (d) Clubbing

Answer: (b) Restlessness. Cyanosis is a late sign.

How to Use PGIMER Nursing Previous Year Questions Effectively

  • 1 Complete the syllabus basics first. PYQs test what you know. They cannot teach you a chapter you have never read.
  • 2 Start topic-wise PYQ practice. After finishing a chapter, solve every PYQ and practice question you have from it.
  • 3 Mark incorrect questions. Mark the ones you got right by guessing, too.
  • 4 Maintain a mistake notebook. For each error, write the correct concept in one line, not just the right option.
  • 5 Revise weak topics. Go back to the textbook, not just the answer key.
  • 6 Attempt mixed-question practice. Mixing subjects trains you to switch between them the way the real paper forces you to.
  • 7 Take full-length timed tests. Use the duration given in the official prospectus or notification.
  • 8 Analyse mistakes, not just the score. A score tells you how you did; your analysis tells you what to fix.

PGIMER Nursing PYQ vs Mock Test: What Is the Difference?

Previous Year Questions Mock Tests
Show what PGIMER has actually asked Show what a paper might look like
Limited in number Available in large numbers
Best for understanding style and recurring concepts Best for timing, stamina and exam temperament
Most useful while and just after learning a topic Most useful in the final one to two months
Accuracy depends on the source Quality depends on who wrote them

When to use each: use PYQs and practice questions while you are learning, to understand what matters. Use full mock tests closer to the exam, to rehearse the complete sitting. Most students need both.

Are PGIMER Nursing Previous Year Question Papers Available in PDF?

The honest answer is: sometimes, but be careful.
  • Availability varies. You cannot count on finding a complete, officially released PGIMER nursing question paper for every year.
  • Many websites offer PDFs. Test platforms and education portals host downloadable papers, question banks and sample papers.
  • Many of these are not official papers. They may be memory-based reconstructions or practice sets, even when the title says "previous year paper".
  • Verify before you trust. Check the exam name, year and source. See whether the paper matches that year's pattern. Cross-check the answer key against a standard textbook, especially for pharmacology and clinical questions.
  • Check official sources first. Use pgimer.edu.in for notifications, the prospectus, and any official answer keys PGIMER releases.

That is why our own PDF above is clearly labelled as a practice set and not an official paper.

How to Practice PGIMER Nursing Previous Year Questions at Home

You don't need long hours; you need regular, honest sessions.

30-minute practice (weekdays)
  • Solve 20–25 questions from one topic.
  • Check your answers.
  • Use the remaining time to analyse mistakes and update your mistake notebook.
60-minute practice (two or three times a week)
  • Solve 40–50 mixed questions with a timer running.
  • Check your answers.
  • Do a detailed analysis: why each wrong answer was wrong, which questions took too long, and which ones you guessed.

These numbers are a starting point. If you are a beginner, solve fewer questions and spend longer on analysis. Once you are comfortable, work out your time per question from the official exam duration and practise at that speed. Keep one full-length timed paper for the weekend.

Common Mistakes Students Make While Solving PGIMER Nursing PYQs

  • Memorising answers without understanding concepts. PGIMER can ask the same concept in a new way.
  • Checking solutions too quickly. Stay with a question for a while before you look at the answer; that struggle is where learning happens.
  • Ignoring incorrect answers. Your mistakes are the most valuable part of the practice.
  • Practising without a timer. Untimed practice makes you feel better prepared than you are.
  • Using random, unverified PDFs. A wrong answer key can teach you a wrong fact with complete confidence.
  • Not revising weak subjects. It is tempting to keep solving what you are already good at.
  • Solving PYQs only once. Re-solve your marked questions after two or three weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1. WWhat are PGIMER Nursing previous year questions?

PGIMER Nursing previous year questions are questions from earlier PGIMER Chandigarh nursing exams, mainly the B.Sc Nursing entrance and the Nursing Officer recruitment exam. They may come from official papers or be recalled by candidates. Students use them to understand question style, recurring topics and difficulty level.

Q2. Where can I find PGIMER Nursing previous year question papers?

Start with the official PGIMER website for notifications, the prospectus and any official answer keys. Test platforms, education portals and coaching institutes also share papers, but many of these are memory-based or practice material. Check the exam, year and source before relying on any of them.

Q3. Are PGIMER Nursing PYQs available in PDF?

Many websites offer PDFs, but not all are official PGIMER papers. Some are memory-based collections or practice sets. OM Nursing Academy offers a free PDF of 50 original practice questions with answers, clearly labelled as a practice set, which you can use alongside any verified papers you find

Q4. How many years of PGIMER Nursing PYQs should I practice?

There is no fixed number. A practical target is every reliable paper you can find from the last several years, with more attention on recent ones because they reflect the current pattern best. Solving a few papers thoroughly and re-attempting your mistakes is better than skimming many.

Q5.Are previous year questions enough for PGIMER Nursing preparation?

No. PYQs show you how the exam works, but PGIMER can test any topic in the syllabus and can ask familiar concepts in new ways. Use PYQs together with proper textbook study, regular revision and full-length mock tests. They work best as a practice and analysis tool.

Q6. What subjects should I focus on while solving PGIMER Nursing PYQs?

It depends on your exam. B.Sc Nursing entrance aspirants should practise Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and GK. Nursing Officer aspirants should cover nursing subjects such as fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, OBG, child health, community health and mental health nursing. Always confirm the syllabus in the notification.

Q7.Should I solve PYQs before completing the syllabus?

Yes, but chapter by chapter. After finishing a topic, solve its PYQs to test your understanding. Save full-length papers until you have covered most of the syllabus. Otherwise, low scores on chapters you haven't studied yet can shake your confidence without teaching you much.

Q8 .How can PGIMER Nursing PYQs improve my speed?

Regular practice helps you recognise familiar question types quickly, so you spend less time reading and deciding. Solve with a timer, note which questions took longest, and revise those topics. Over time you will know which questions to answer immediately and which to leave for a second pass.

Q9.What is the difference between PGIMER Nursing PYQs and mock tests?

PYQs are questions actually asked in earlier PGIMER exams, so they show the real style and recurring concepts. Mock tests are full-length papers written to imitate the exam, and they help with timing and stamina. Use PYQs while learning and mock tests closer to the exam.

Q10 .How can I prepare for PGIMER Nursing with OM Nursing Academy Chandigarh?

OM Nursing Academy Chandigarh offers preparation for the PGIMER B.Sc Nursing entrance and the Nursing Officer exam. It includes concept-based teaching, topic-wise tests, mock tests and doubt-solving, in both offline and online batches. You can visit the Sector 34A centre or contact the academy for current batch details.

Conclusion

PGIMER Nursing previous year questions are one of the most useful tools you have, as long as you use them correctly:

  • Match the questions to the right exam
  • Know whether you are solving official, memory-based or practice material.
  • Treat every wrong answer as a lesson, not just a lost mark.

PYQs support your syllabus study; they don't replace it. The students who benefit most combine strong concepts, careful analysis and regular timed tests. A good place to start is our free practice set. You can also check the upcoming nursing exams in 2026 to plan your preparation.

Students preparing for PGIMER and other nursing entrance or competitive exams can also explore structured preparation and practice support from OM Nursing Academy Chandigarh.
